感想 : 意外驚喜

Having spent endless hours at William Stout's (San Francisco) and Peter Miller's (Seattle) plus almost half of my Berkeley education on expensive architecture books, never in my farthest imagination would i find such a delight at 'Anthropologie' among all places.  What is this 518-page, a-thousand-pound monograph that would barely fit on your coffee table (seriously, 14"x20") doing behind those colorful French dresses and fragrant bathroom candles where beautifully engineered bridges are the last thing you think about?  This still remains a question.  But whatever the answer is, I walked out of the store with a big smile and a lighter wallet, a very pleasant surprise on a rainy sunday afternoon.  And only at half price, I definitely got myself a perfect christmas present!

By the way, the book is on my all-time favorite Santiago Calatrava with his complete works from 1979 through 2007.  Calatrava is a Spanish architect, structural engineer and fine artist who bases his design practice in Switzerland.
